Since the start of 2025, The Ugandan and American branches of the Bulambuli Permaculture Association have focused on the financing and development of a crucial new project: a tree nursery. Located at the footstep of Mount Elgon, the new nursery location will be better suited to distribute seedlings to subsistence farmers in the mountainous highlands, where people have lived off the fertile soil for generations.
The Bulambuli Permaculture Association exists to anchor agriculture practices in the Bulambuli district of Uganda. Since 2016, association director Sam Gidudu has given away thousands of tree seedlings, trained hundreds of farmers, and espoused a framework for making mountainous agriculture sustainable for generations to come.
