Sam Gidudu biography

Sam Gidudu is a founding member of Bulambuli Permaculture Association (BUPA) where he serves as a director. His lifelong focus is to promote agroforestry and water-harvesting methods which help cure poor environmental conditions that lead to landslides, flooding, food shortages, drought and poverty.

Over the years he has taught and taken courses in environmental restoration and conservation across Eastern Uganda and Western Kenya. Today Sam resides in Uganda’s Mbale District where coworkers and friends describe him as a “committed, courageous, honest, kind, and knowledgeable lover of nature.”

Highlights of his long career in environmentalism include co-founding the Elgon Permaculture Center and working with the Global Environmental Fund on sustainable land management. He has also worked with the Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau or UPMB, African RangeLands and ACTED’s R.E.V.I.V.E program.

Cason Hunwick biography

Cason started farming in 2020 on a farm in Marine City, Michigan. He has also worked on small farms in Utah and New Hampshire. He is passionate about using regenerative farming methods, and the community-share agriculture or CSA business model. He currently lives in southeastern Michigan where he leads an urban community-share farm.

Rose Kayegi biography

THE BIOGRAPHY OF KAYEGI ROSE. KAYEGI ROSE aged—-years old, a born of Bulambuli district uganda, currently lives in Bulambuli district. She is a district woman counsellor Bulambuli and she is involved more in restoration and environmental conservation activities. She likes working with nature not against it, she is so committed. friendly,inspiring, social. She has gone through various training like permaculture trainings and she now also a TOT . She is also a key founder of BUPA and on 20th Nov. 2023 she was elected as the head community outreach in BUPA. She a dresses challenges such as heavy destructive rains, poor pest management by the farmers like in crop farming, land slides etc. Her vision is to promote permaculture through integrated pest management, sustainable land management , afforestation, and other various trainings. Her goal is to promote permaculture. Her expectations are women empowerment into environmental restoration. She has worked with organisations such as ILM, SLM, SPARK, EPIC and others. She has promoted permaculture in areas like 1.Bududa district 2.siroko district 3.namisuni sub county 4.sisiyi sub county 5.kamuli 6and many more. Jacob Hunwick biography

Jacob is the Lead Designer at BUPA USA. He uses his skills in UX, Graphic Design, and Marketing to drive fund raising campaigns and maintain multi-lingual access to all BUPA publications.

Jescah Nabwire biography

Jescah was born in the Manafwa district. She currently lives in the Budaka district of Uganda. She is a nurse by profession and is involved in environmental restoration and conservation programs. She likes nature because it determines our lives. She is committed, honest, spiritual, and social. She has also gone through some permaculture trainings. She is one of the founders of BUPA. She is also an active member and on the 20th of November 2023, she was elected as the General Secretary for BUPA.

She addresses challenges such as flooding, deforestation, poverty, the increase in school dropout rates, depression, and stress as a result of disaster out-break like landslides. Her vision is to minimize and control the challenges through permaculture practices. Her goal is to promote permaculture. She has worked with organizations such as: SEND ACOW, SALEM, EPIC and ILM. She has promoted permaculture in areas like: the Manafwa distrct, the Bulambuli district, the Bududa district and the Budaka district. Fred Nangai biography

Fred was born in the Bulambuli district of Uganda, and he currently lives in Bulambuli. He is one of the clan leaders and he is very involved in environmental restoration and conservation programs, He likes permaculture, he is very committed, educative, inspiring, spiritual, cultural, honest, and social. He has also gone through some trainings.

He is one of the active BUPA members and on 20th Nov. 2023 he was elected the Head of Environmental Management at BUPA. He addresses challenges such as deforestation, land slides, flooding, and more. His vision is to restore the environment. His goal is to promote permaculture. He has worked with organisations such as: SLM, SPARK, ILM and EPIC. He has promoted permaculture in areas including:

  1. Sisiyi
  2. Gibuzale
  3. Namisuni

He is the BUPA community tree nursery operator. He likes tree planting, swale digging, growing coffee and vegetables, and many other activities.

Beth Namwenya biography

Beth was born in the Bulambuli district. She currently lives in Bulambuli. She is a clan leader and is very much involved in environmental restoration and conservation activities. She likes permaculture, she is social, honest, spiritual, and knowledgeable. She has also been trained in different permaculture practices. She is also one of the active BUPA members.

On November 20th, 2023 she was elected as the head of social and group dynamics in BUPA. She adresses challenges such as poverty, domestic violence, landslides, and deforestation. Her vision is to promote equality and good social understanding between women and men by promoting permaculture. Her goal is to promote permaculture. She has worked with organizations such as EPIC, ILM, SLM, SPARK, and others. She has promoted permaculture in areas like:

  1. Nalumba
  2. Gibuzale
  3. Sisiyi
  4. Namisuni.

She likes coffee growing, tree planting, vegetable growing, and mulching.
